TorqueTunes is committed to being straightforward about what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. This policy covers the TorqueTunes app, website, and OBD2 device.
1. Information We Collect
When you use TorqueTunes, we may collect the following:
- Account information — email address, username, and profile details you provide when creating an account
- Vehicle data — year, make, model, engine, and modifications you add to your garage
- OBD2 device data — diagnostic trouble codes, live sensor readings, and telemetry streamed from your vehicle via the TorqueTunes device
- Usage data — how you interact with the app, features you use, and preferences you set
- Purchase information — order details for the TorqueTunes device and any in-app tune purchases (payment processing handled by third-party providers)
- Community content — tunes, comments, or other content you choose to share on the platform
2. OBD2 Device Data
The TorqueTunes OBD2 device reads live data from your vehicle’s ECU and onboard systems. This data is used exclusively to power the features you’ve enabled in the app — live vitals dashboards, diagnostic explanations, and tune recommendations.
We may aggregate and anonymize OBD2 telemetry data across the platform to improve diagnostic accuracy and tune recommendations. This aggregated data cannot identify you or your specific vehicle. We do not sell raw vehicle telemetry to any third party.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide core app features — diagnostics, live telemetry, tune catalog, and community tools
- To process and fulfill your device and tune purchases
- To send account-related communications, order confirmations, and support responses
- To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymized usage and telemetry analysis
- To generate personalized tune recommendations based on your vehicle and driving data
We do not use your data for advertising targeting or sell it to data brokers.
4. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted third parties in limited circumstances:
- Payment processors — to handle transactions for device purchases and tune purchases
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers — to operate the platform
- Analytics providers — to understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the product
All third-party providers are bound by data protection agreements and are only permitted to use your data as needed to provide their services to us.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and vehicle data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes.
6. Your Rights
You can access, update, or delete your account information at any time through the app settings. If you’d like to request a data export or permanent deletion of your data, contact us directly.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections and secure storage. No system is completely immune to risk, but we take reasonable measures to keep your information safe.
